Captain commits future to the club

Anton has been a key player for the VfB since joining in 2020

The VfB Stuttgart have extended Waldemar Anton's contract prematurely, tying their captain to the club until 2027. The 26-year-old defender's original contract was set to expire on June 30, 2024, but he has now committed his long-term future to the Bundesliga side.

Anton has been a key player for the VfB since joining from Hannover 96 in 2020, making over 80 appearances for the club. He has been a regular in the starting lineup under Pellegrino Matarazzo and has played a vital role in the team's success in recent seasons.

The German international is known for his strong defensive qualities and his ability to play out from the back. He is also a vocal leader in the dressing room and has been credited with helping to improve the team's spirit.

The VfB are delighted to have secured Anton's services for the long term. Sporting director Sven Mislintat said: "Waldemar is a very important player for us. He is a leader on and off the pitch and we are very happy that he has committed his future to the club."

Anton said: "I am very happy to have extended my contract with the VfB. I feel very comfortable here and I believe that we can achieve great things together in the future."
